lol! You must be joking, the prices are already extortionate by comparison with anywhere else in europe. We've already been the subject of "let's see how much we can rip off these guys" thanks to the celtic tiger. If I want CDs, I'll buy them off amazon, itunes, whatever.
HMV ireland for example charges outrageous prices for box set dvds (70 euro for fringe season 1 when it's about 12 euro on amazon, gtfo), there's no room for them to move it up any more. Even compared to HMV UK it's unreasonable, and nobody is buying the "cost of business is more expensive in ireland" excuse for 30%+ markups anymore.

As for the thread title, there's at least 4 different types of mobile broadband that i can think of right now - vodafone, o2, meteor and that "three" company (admittedly not quite 'broadband' but sufficient unless you want to download en masse), ntl, a lot of wireless companies, etc. Eircom already have bad customer service and often a bad rep, there's thankfully a number of alternatives. Only problem as mentioned before is their ownership of the actual lines.

There's still no excuse for cyclists cycling across a junction/intersection when the light is red. They're just asking to get run over, and probably the driver would be blamed. I've seen it happen so many times I'm amazed I haven't seen it go wrong yet

I think statistically significant would have a p value of say, less than 5% (conventional value). The smaller the p value, the more "significant". So if it's a p value of 4.9%, it's barely into the "significant" range.

I'm always amazed when I see such a fuss made over calculus in secondary school in the USA - it's completely standard here, even just for students taking "ordinary level" maths.

I have to agree, this all seems like a non-issue. My login ID and pin AND password are enough to just view my accounts; if I wanted to make any external transactions I need this stupid little card reader machine (they post it out free to you) plus atm card to stick into it which generates some code I then need to enter on the site. I'm happy enough with that, it's all convoluted enough
