You're all looking at it from Android mobile phone perspective. What if they use Android as just another app platform where developers can create PC apps in the future?
I agree with your logic and Microsoft seems to be moving in that direction but I don't think Microsoft Linux will be anything like the other flavors of Linux. Think of BSD and Mac levels of difference. Microsoft Windows will look behave and work exactly like Windows, any changes that happen will be under the hood.
Do they just decide your machine is no longer worthy and you need to spend money again? Or do you install Windows/Linux at that point?
Asking since my current PC, an i5 2500k based machine is 7 years old and still fully updated.
He is the guy who can turn things around for Microsoft. After all, he's probably the only one outside the company who believes in Microsoft strategy. Nokia shareholders will not mind at all.
I'd say office will live and prosper till there's no viable alternative to Excel. There are departments that practically live on it and Google doesn't even try to compete.
