Indeed. I have yet to see why I need any of these devices on my person. In fact, I get by with very few "apps" and use my phone mostly for "calls" (for those of you who don't remember those, it's when you pick a name form a list and then talk to the person rather than typing a message to them) - very fast, interactive, and simple to use.

If I were you, Mr./Ms. Khyber, I would be keeping a low profile lest my comments on the chat and threats that seems to be in a PM become pubic. Oh, too late.

The movie is science fiction. At some point there will be inconsistencies (we have all groaned when hearing explosions in space.) Based on the post, putting the stations in line to advance the plot and getting the rotation wrong are pretty minor issues.

I assume that by ‘monkey work’ your boss means the coding itself and not any of the design. If that isn’t what he means, then that has already been covered.
I outsourced several small custom add-on components for our core application. These components were not going to be used by any other customers and were not going to be included in the main product. I don’t know why you would outsource your core development – also already covered here. But if you are set on outsourcing, here is my advice:

1. Develop a specification with all features and functions clearly defined.
2. Design the database schema (or whatever data storage design you need).
3. Prototype every screen. Create full up screens (even if they are just images) with the same controls on them that you want to see in the product.
4. Spell out every user input and result for every screen.
5. Establish the platforms – all development tools, OS’s and languages should be spelled out up front.
6. Review often – catch problems as soon as possible.
7. Document every variance. If they can’t do something the way you wanted it, document it and the agreement you came to.
8. Pay for feature completion, not hours.
9. Protect your Intellectual Property.

Decaf - Gave up coffee with caffeine years ago after finding out that one of the (effective) ingredients in migraine medication was caffeine - Everything from Caffergot to Excedrin Migraine. But... If I already ha plenty of caffeine in my system from drinking coffee, it didn't help much. Now without caffeine, a hot cup of Joe poured over that migraine is very effective and cutting it off! Jeff

Actually... I assume the "defacing" is quite clear in Chinese. A look at a dozen or so sites doesn't look like any huge defacing has been done. Images seem intact, English text sill clear enough.... Hard to verify.
