Comment Re:Not my experience (Score 1) 117

Usually I try to go Alamo as I've not had the same bullshit I've experienced with Hertz. The bar is low. My experience with Budget during this past July when they were the only option was they didn't have any mid-sized car despite a reservation, there was a crazy line at the airport, and they removed my direct booking discount because they had to rebook me for a compact economy car, and at the time they were billing ~$100 a day. Felt more like hunger games than an actual fucking business, but I guess that's the experience when there are shortages. Feels like you should get some customer service when you're burning over a grand. Basically, the industry seems to be run on customer disservice, and paranoia about the cars being stolen. I suspect if someone could figure out how to effectively filter the crappy customers and actually provide customer service, they could do very well. Typically you just don't have much of a choice when you fly out to whatever regional airport and you're just stuck with Hertz or Budget hell.

Let's focus on the fact that other giant corporations charge about the same rate, and that we are not colluding. We simply don't allow other app stores to exist in iOS and prevent web standards from competing with our app store, because we gotta milk our monopoly status *cough* I mean we need to make sure our users have a great experience.

Yes, co-working has a model that is very similar to hotels, which are great in some scenarios. Why would someone invest in this, compared to a completely underwater hotel chain about to go bankrupt, beats me. I guess I do wonder if investors are higher on the food chain of bankruptcy than landlords, but I think Chase also agreed to give them a big loan. I guess we are going to see if the open market is crazy enough to bail softbank out of this.

Not to say that there arenâ(TM)t already competitors that have been around longer, including some that make money, but there are plenty of barriers to entry. Itâ(TM)s not that easy launching and running a brick and mortar location. Getting long term leases in the city core is not easy, you need a lot of money. Itâ(TM)s also hard to actually be profitable, which WeWork hasnâ(TM)t been able to figure out. Itâ(TM)s hard to get investment and loans when you are losing money. To open as many locations as WeWork, you need a fuckload of money. That still doesnâ(TM)t mean itâ(TM)s a good idea that will not result in a complete loss.

There is such a thing as jurisprudence, and it's the job of high ranking officials in law enforcement to determine which the laws on the books get pushed. If you directly fuck with those people in a criminal way, either expect to get the book thrown at you or you might qualify for a Darwin award.
