iTrans Description
Many incidents have occurred where blood units were administered to the wrong patient, resulting in fatal outcomes. The majority of incidents are caused by mistakes, sometimes multiple, made during the transfusion process. iTrans is a smart haemovigilance device for intelligent transportation, and haemovigilance sensors for tracking the cold chain. Focus on the three key principles of bedside transfusion safety. iTrans is a specialized transfusion box with a touchscreen display, a lock, and an embedded circuit. The box contains embedded software. The blood transport box locks automatically based on the patient ID of the person who receives the bags. The blood transportation box will only open at the patient's end when the correct patient ID has been entered on the top touch screen. The blood transport box can be remotely locked by blood banks if there are exceptions, such as incorrect blood group detection or updated test results that are reactive.
