To enhance safety, iTrans has been developed as an IoT-enabled haemovigilance box that incorporates temperature and humidity sensors for effective cold chain monitoring. This innovative device adheres to three essential principles aimed at ensuring transfusion safety at the bedside. The iTrans box features a built-in circuit, a secure locking mechanism, and a user-friendly touchscreen interface. Its software is designed to facilitate efficient management of the blood transportation process. The box automatically locks based on the patient ID associated with the blood bags it carries. Moreover, it only unlocks at the patient’s location when the correct ID is entered on its touchscreen. In addition, the iTrans box is equipped with a remote locking capability, allowing blood banks to secure the box in cases of emergencies, such as when an incorrect blood type is detected or when test results indicate a potential risk. Through these advanced features, iTrans significantly increases the safety and reliability of blood transfusions.
