Zootrition Description
Zootrition is an extensive database that allows zoo and wildlife managers to compare nutritional content of food items and calculate overall nutrition composition of diets. Users can identify potential nutritional deficiencies and toxicities and can add additional information specific for their local areas. This database contains nutritional data on over 3000 feedstuffs. It is based on published information for humans, livestock, pets, and wild foods. The standardized equations allow for easy calculation of daily calorie and joule requirements for various mammals, birds, reptiles and other animals. These calculations are based on body weights and feeding habits, activity levels, physiological state, and/or physiological status. For diet assessment/ targets, information on published requirements for livestock, pets, and wildlife species with different production stages or physiological stages is available.
