Summary: I have used Moneygram, Western Union and various others platforms to send money to a missionary we support in Nicaragua but the fees are generally high and time to be available for pickup are long. A friend of mine suggested I try Xoom since I have a PayPal account so I did. Holy mackerel, it was super easy and super fast! Funds were almost immediately available to my friend in Nicaragua at a bank branch near to him, plus the Nicaraguan bank did not charge any additional fees to him when picking up the money. I sent 900 dollars for less than 10 dollars in total fees, and it was available for pickup in minutes. No other service comes close to this!
Positive: Easy integration with current PayPal and bank accounts, multiple banking outlets and user friendliness.
Negative: The only potential drawback is that you have to have an existing PayPal account tied into your personal bank account prior to using Xoom.
