Wekinator Description

The Wekinator software is free and open-source. Rebecca Fiebrink created Wekinator 1.0 in 2009. Rebecca Fiebrink released Wekinator 2.0 in 2015. This new version features redesigned interactions and new algorithms. It also allows you to connect to dozens more creative coding tools and sensors. Wekinator 2.0 is still being updated with bug fixes, feature requests, and other minor improvements. It allows anyone to use machine-learning to create new musical instruments, gestural controllers, computer vision, or computer listening systems. Instead of writing code, the Wekinator allows users create interactive systems by demonstrating human actions as well as computer responses. You can create mappings between gestures and computer sounds. Control a drum machine using your webcam! Use a Kinect to play Ableton! Use gestures from your webcam, Kinect or other sensors to control interactive visual environments such as Processing, OpenFrameworks or Quartz Composer.
