Great for Drafts and Polishing Edited: Jul 22 2023
Summary: Unlike the other review here I actually paid to use Sudowrite for a month and I think that you can't really appreciate it based on the free trial. Where it shines is in both the draft and polish of your book, and by that I mean it is extremely quick to get a rough draft of something like 30,000 pages. The other review comments on the cost and while I would love it to be cheaper I can't deny the fact that you're affectively paying around $25 for enough words to fill the average novel. In real terms, it might take you a few hours to earn $25 and in exchange you are likely to save yourself 2 to 3 months worth of work so comparatively it is actually extremely cheap when you think about the amount of time that you're saving. What I mean by polish is that once you've got your draft all sorted you can then take each page, but you've generated and then go through the text and specifically ask for prompt, suggested next parts, extra descriptions or expand on points in order to really flesh out the book. This will not, and in my opinion never will, replace authors - because writing is subjective and creative so unless they put a chip in your head it will always be your idea on the page. That said I paid for 90,000 words and in the space of less than a week I had a really good thorough understanding of what I was writing. I am re-working the plot and will be paying for another Month when I'm ready. If I were to be critical I would say that the way the book is written is passable but poor. The way it reads can be very bland and uninspired. That's fine, I don't need or want it to write exactly how I write. What I want and what I get is a close approximation, enough that I can go in and tweak certain sections, or perhaps reword segments, so that it feels and sounds the way I want it to. I would also say that it feels like a site in it's infancy, in that the layout is a bit hap hazard on the story writing page. It's passable, but it needs someone with a bit of UX / UI / Front End wizardry to make this feel more user friendly or atleast a bit more inviting. These are very small points and detract from what is essentially the main reason you buy this. When they say writers block is gone, that's absolutely true. You can click a button and it will throw whole segments of text at you for the story that often fit quite well or at the very least point you in the right direction. None of this really comes across in their free trial. 90,000 words is a lot, I have 20,000 left after drafting 11 chapters or roughly 20,000 words, which in context of my book is about half way. The final product would likely be more than that. So yeah, I want these guys to succeed, I love using it, I would love it even more if it didn't cost as much but I can rationalise that cost with the output.
Positive: - Great at writing a long draft copy
- Great for suggesting the next part of the story
- Great for expanding on points or adding description
- Great for plotting
- You can very quickly map an entire book with broad strokes and then afterwards step through that book and really refine and flesh out details.Negative: - Sometimes it will describe characters that you've defined incorrectly, they'll change genders or behaviours, but you can use guardrails to stop that from happening

- The actual text it produces can feel very bland, even when tweaked, so it needs human intervention. I feel that is a good thing because writing is a very personal subjective art, you can't expect to write in your exact style
- The cost is a lot but that's offset against a huge amount of output in a short space of time
- The layout needs more polish, it has a very amateur look and feel that needs and experienced UX / UI designer to really improve -

Just don't Date: Jul 09 2024
Summary: Just don't with this scam. They really don't care as long has they get your money, while lying about the source of their data.
Positive: Kinda made some tasks easier, but it was very generic output, and not worth the ultimate pain of being scammed.
Negative: If I could give it 0 stars I would. I tried to cancel subscription, they send no confirmation and then bill you anyway when renewal is due. They do not respond to multiple emails disputing the charge. To make matters worse, they don't allow you to delete your card details from their site, so I had to cancel my card so they don't charge again at their discretion!

Sudowrite review Date: Feb 11 2023
Summary: I have tried several AI editors and this one has the potential to be great but the limits they set for it allows the thing to get out of control going off topic or changing the direction of your story. It also takes away from the creativity you put in. There is no way I would ever pay for any of these AI Editors without seeing the full power of what they can do in order to make my evaluations of its ability. So far I can say this one might be good but it isn't worth paying to find out. Then comes the limits of the words. This is the same bullshit Cellphone providers used to do with minutes. It shows greed and lack of caring if their product can produce the results you want unless you pay out the nose. This is another reason I won't pay what they want to see if the AI can produce what I want. The idea I pretty much have to rely on the number of words it will do when writing a novel. Having it read a whole novel would use up the words very quickly leaving me without the editing or proof reading I want it for. If you are like me having almost 11k words to start with that uses up the trial so fast you can't make any decision. The professional plan would be used up in one or two edits so why would I want to pay?
Positive: That it has the ability to write freely.
that it has the ability to rewrite your text to make it look better.Negative: The limits they put on it severely limits the ability for it to stay on track with your original story. The fact that it isn't able to use the whole context of your story to make the edits.
