Smartype Description
Smartype, also known as automated word completion, was the first predictive typing system in the world. It was created by Joe and Maria Weber. Patent filed in 1990; granted 1994. This invention was considered one of the 56 most important innovations that Massachusetts has produced. It was also recognized alongside the telephone, Internet and first college, Facebook, anesthesia, and other innovations. Smartype was first purchased by medical transcriptionists at a price of $150 over many years. It has drastically improved their productivity and saved them up to 70% on keystrokes. Narratek now makes it free. Anyone who has used this software is encouraged to tell their colleagues and friends that they are now able to enjoy the same speedtyping benefits without any additional cost. Narratek will not be able to provide any support for this program moving forward.
