School Attendance Description
The Office of School Support staff works to improve attendance in schools across the district. Missing classes can make it difficult for students to be fully prepared and engaged. Higher graduation rates and academic achievement can be achieved through better attendance. The Office of School Support's attendance team engages students, families, and Ramsey County partners in order to intervene quickly when school attendance problems arise. Parents/guardians must communicate with their child whenever they are absent. Not all absences will be excused. Send a note or call the main office. Be specific about your reason for being absent. SPPS has three steps to support attendance. If a student continues being absent, the consequences of not attending are more severe. Parents receive an attendance alert letter home after three absences unexcused. If the student is absent again, the school will initiate the intervention process.
