A good alternative to FLEXlm Date: Sep 09 2019
Summary: We were FLEXlm customers for 15 years, but after a while we felt like we weren't getting much in the way of meaningful features - and the price just kept going up and up. We discovered that RLM was developed by the same people that had originally been involved with FLEXlm and it all felt very familiar to us. Pricing seemed much more fair.
Positive: Had all of the features we expected, but was a bit more modern (web administration, etc). Administration is comfortably similar to FlexLM.
Negative: Nothing in particular. It has everything we've ever thought of needing.

Excellent Service for 10 Years Date: Sep 09 2019
Summary: We have used the Reprise License Manager to license thermal analysis software for the past ten years. We are very happy with the cost, performance and service of RLM in supporting all of our customers' usage scenarios.
Positive: Affordable, easy-to-use licensing product with great support for small software vendors.
Product is well-maintained, with lots of new innovations based on customer feedback.Negative: The only issue we ever had with our customers was that initially, many license administrators thought that there was only one license manager product available for engineering software, and they couldn't understand that we were using a new product that worked just as well.

Excellent Licensing Management Date: Sep 08 2019
Summary: Integration was relatively straight forward and on the whole definitely less effort than rolling your own solution. Costs overall put it slightly in favour on the build vs buy decision. It is not inexpensive but in most cases will cost less than your own solution unless you need something extremely basic.
Professional and responsive company to deal with which is critically important when licensing is definitely on the critical path in most cases.Positive: Hosted activation option is great for avoiding the pain of setting up your own activation service and managing uptime and other issues.
Lots of available options for local licensing, license servers, activation and other configurations.
Documentation is extensive, though so extensive that it can be a little tricky to find your way around it, usually the information is there though.
Top notch support team, extremely responsive to questions and issues.Negative: No true usage based licensing system (e.g., for billing users by the hour). Possible in a way with various work around techniques but complex.

Straightforward licensing package for our EDA tools software Date: Sep 06 2019
Summary: We are using RLM to enforce purchased licenses for our EDA software, both for evaluation/trial licenses as well as for yearly/perpetual licenses.
If you're familiar with Flexera/flexLM this is a great lower cost alternative without sacrificing any functionality.Positive: It's very easy to get up to speed with RLM. RLM supports multiple platforms. RLM pricing is a good bit lower than Flexera whereas the features appear to be equivalent. Support is great, very responsive to my questions.
Negative: The supplied libraries and their API don't make it very easy to troubleshoot when a license isn't found. A lot of manual work is required in the front end software to present the end user with useful details.

Great product Edited: Sep 06 2019
Summary: Overall we've been very happy with RLM. A small time investment to get working combined with almost no investment to keep running makes it a great technology.
Positive: 1. It was very easy to get up & running (though we went a step or two further and built a nice C++ wrapper on it -- you certainly don't need to do that if you don't want to).
2. Whenever we need support, Reprise is quick & prompt with the help (usually situations involving odd customer networking setups when they're trying to use a floating license server).
3. Perhaps most important, we've found RLM to be of the category of 'fire and forget'. We implemented it in our software, verified it, and have had to do almost nothing since to keep it up & running. Every so often we'll upgrade to a newer version, which means compiling some binaries and putting them in the proper place so our in-house licensing system (which sits on top of RLM) can do its thing, but that's basically a couple of hours of work We upgrade to the latest version every couple of years, so this is pretty minimal.

Excellent licensing solution Date: Sep 06 2019
Summary: Overall, the RLM licensing SDK is an excellent solution for any company that is developing desktop software that needs both node-locked and network licensing solutions. Every possibility for managing your customer's software modules is possible, and eliminates needing to think through all the various scenarios of network licensing which was our main goal!
Positive: This software library is very fast and easy to implement to handle both your node-locked and network licensing needs. Everything you could possibly want from a software licensing tool is included with Reprise!
Negative: To be completely honest, the pricing being based on the income of the company using the product is something we are not a giant fan of.

Robust License Manager Date: Sep 16 2019
Summary: Customers from us up to now are happy that rlm is easy to use, and the license managmant aspect is easy.
RLM helps us safely distribute our software and the support and contact persons are great.Positive: - Easy to use
- Good Guide to get started with a few best practices to implement into the software
- Good DocumentationNegative: - Activation Pro and RLM Cloud miss our customers need, who don't want to open their servers to an external source, problems is that it seems to us that most of the development is on these aspects

Robust solution with a lot of flexibility Date: Sep 12 2019
Summary: We are a small company and at some point needed to have a solution for creating and managing licenses for our products. Since we deploy always the full set of tools we had to find a way to open/close some of the features, based on clients agreements and contracts. We selected RLM as our provider and integrated it into our product. This framework really works! We encountered some tries to manipulate the license details and these were successfully rejected. You should have a look, it may fit also your needs!
Positive: Pretty easy to implement, especially if you do not add a complexity with your own servers, but use RLM's
You can have several product licenses within 1 file or 1 license that represent a bundle of products
Dozens of options to play with
Good reports that can be generated in the portal
Very responsive support center (my experience)Negative: No support for sticking to diskSN under Linux (requires root priv.)

Very good licensing software Date: Sep 12 2019
Summary: We use RLM now for many years and it is a very effective and secure way to create our node licked licenses for our desktop based software, no intention to change it.
Positive: Easy to integrate and deploy and very secure way to license our software.
Negative: A bit time consuming to learn all features and possible combinations, and how to implement it, but after this is done everything goes easily and fast.
