    Reason

    Edited: May 03 2022

Summary: Amazing music tool that is fun and pleasant to use. Built-in devices look and sound great. It is a modular heaven which is great for sound design and music.

Positive: Modular system with almost infinite possibilities. Very good quality devices. Now also able to host VST plugins.
Reason uses a proprietary format for its plugins. But now all its instruments and effects can be hosted in any DAW as VST3.
Player devices provide super-inspiring ways to create and manipulate midi.

Negative: Considerably different from other DAWs. Steep learning curve.
No 32 bit version. 32 bit VST plugins will not work.
Routing of audio and CV (conyrol voltages) is great but can be complicated, at least at first.
The company is currently trying to push a monthly signature model.
