Cloudification and multicloud management are here to stay. HybridMount allows you to mount storage from public clouds or remote servers. It also allows you to enable a cloud storage gateway that simplifies hybrid-cloud applications. This gateway can be used to facilitate cloud collaboration, data migration to the cloud, backup/restore to the cloud, and cloud collaboration for remote work. HybridMount is able to mount storage from multiple sources, including cloud storage or remote servers. Multiple mounting options allow you to expand the storage capacity of a QNAP NAS or other QNAP devices. They also provide single-interface central management for files on the NAS, cloud and remote devices. Integrate NAS with major cloud services. Cloud storage gateways can also be supported to provide low-latency access via local caching to the cloud.

Cloud images are operating system templates. Every instance starts as an identical copy of every other instance. It is the user data that gives each cloud instance its personality. Cloud-init is the tool that automatically applies that user data to your instances. You can include datasource and module references. There are many examples. Cloud-init was originally developed for Ubuntu but is now available on most major Linux and FreeBSD operating system platforms. Cloud-init automatically handles differences between cloud image providers -- for example, official Ubuntu cloud images are identical across both public and private clouds.
