UncensoredDNS refers to a DNS service consisting of two uncensored DNS server. These servers are free to anyone. Thomas Steen Rasmussen runs this service. I am a system administrator for a Danish internet provider. I was born in 1979. This service is owned by me, a private individual. UncensoredDNS began in November 2009, shortly after I started working for an ISP. One of my responsibilities was administering the censored DNS servers all Danish ISPs maintain for their customers. OpenDNS used NXDOMAIN redirection back then, which was an advertising trick that allowed misspelled domains to be redirected to a search page with advertisements instead of returning an NXDOMAIN error. OpenDNS was appealing to a DNS purist like me because it did not have DNSSEC or ipv6. They didn't have DNSSEC or ipv6 which were required on modern DNS servers back in 2009. UncensoredDNS was created as an alternative and a solution to this.
