Pleroma can be used immediately by joining an existing Pleroma instance. You can also check the installation guide for setting up your own server. Pleroma is a microblogging software that can federate (= send messages to) other servers that have the same federation standards as ActivityPub and OStatus. This means that you can have a server for yourself and your friends, while still maintaining control over your online identity. You can also exchange messages with people on larger servers. Pleroma will federate to all servers that use OStatus and ActivityPub like GNU Social or Friendica, Hubzilla, Mastodon, and Mastodon.
