OpenSMTPD Description
OpenSMTPD implements the server-side SMTP standard as defined in RFC 5321 with some additional extensions. It allows machines to send and receive emails from other systems that use the SMTP protocol. OpenSMTPD was born out of dissatisfaction over other SMTP implementations. It is a complete SMTP implementation. OpenSMTPD was developed primarily by Gilles Chehade, Eric Faurot and other OpenBSD hackers.

Horde
Horde is the world's most flexible groupware, making it the ideal platform for building your business productivity software. Horde is the only open source groupware that connects to and supports more backends than any other system. This allows you to continue using your existing userbase, and your users will not need to remember any new passwords. Horde's feature-set rivals that of the largest enterprise email system. We have a feature set that is superior to any other competitor in our primary apps, such as mail, calendar, and address book, and even more in secondary apps, such as time tracking, wiki and ticketing.

Courier
Courier's mail transfer agent (MTA), an integrated mail/groupware service, is based on commodity open protocols such as ESMTP and IMAP. It also supports SSL, LDAP and HTTP. Courier offers ESMTP, IMAP and POP3 services, webmail and mailing lists within a single, consistent framework. Individual components can easily be enabled or disabled. The Courier mail module now integrates basic web-based scheduling and calendaring services into the webmail module. Soon, advanced groupware calendaring will be available.
The Courier mailserver's source code should be able to compile on all POSIX-based kernels, including Linux and BSD. The Courier mailserver should also compile under Solaris and AIX with the help of Sun's or IBM’s freeware addon tools for each operating system.
The Courier mailserver evolved from several related projects that were merged together (more about that later). The Courier mailserver implements SMTP extension for mailing list management.

It does this without the need for any additional software or plug-ins for Microsoft Outlook or other clients -- desktop and mobile! Best of all, it offers all of the features of Exchange, but at a FRACTION of the cost. In addition, features like audio and video group chat, and Online Meetings for team meetings and group collaboration are included at no extra charge.
