    NMIS review

    Date: Jul 10 2023

Summary: I highly recommend the NMIS network management solution. Its scalability, automation capabilities, and competitive pricing make it a standout option in the market. Through its easy implementation and maintenance, NMIS saves valuable time and resources for network administrators. With its operational process automation, it enables faster time-to-value and improved efficiency, while also safeguarding critical IP.

Positive: I deployed FirstWave's NMIS and after using it extensively, I am pleased to share my experience with this robust network management solution. The key features are scalability, automation, and competitive pricing that make NMIS stand out. One of the key advantages of NMIS is its scalability. Whether you have a small network or a large enterprise infrastructure, NMIS can effortlessly handle the demands of your network. With its advanced architecture, it can monitor and manage a significant number of devices without compromising performance. This scalability ensures that as your network grows, NMIS will be able to handle the increased workload seamlessly. Another standout feature of NMIS is its automation capabilities. The platform provides a wide range of automated processes, allowing for more efficient and effective network management. From automated network discovery to automated troubleshooting and remediation, NMIS streamlines the operational processes and reduces the need for manual intervention. This ultimately saves valuable time and resources, enabling network administrators to focus on more strategic tasks. One of the factors that attracted me to NMIS was its competitive pricing. Compared to other network management solutions on the market, NMIS offers a cost-effective option without compromising on features or performance. This affordability makes NMIS accessible to businesses and large enterprises, providing exceptional value for the investment. Implementing and maintaining NMIS was a straight forward process as long as you have linux skills in your team. The intuitive user interface and comprehensive documentation made the initial setup a straightforward process. The system was up and running in no time, allowing me to quickly start leveraging its powerful features. Furthermore, NMIS proved to be reliable and stable, requiring minimal maintenance and ensuring maximum uptime for my network. In terms of value, NMIS delivers a fast-time-to-value with its operational process automation. By automating manual tasks, it greatly improves efficiency and effectiveness, enabling network administrators to focus on higher-level activities. Moreover, by ensuring the protection of critical intellectual property (IP), NMIS serves as a reliable guardian of sensitive data, contributing to overall network security. In conclusion,

Negative: If you don't have Linux skills or prefer windows then this is not the product for you. If you don't have basic networking skills then this is not the product for you. If you are only at system admin level in a basic network then there are other options out there.

I wish I found it earlier

    Date: Jan 11 2023

Summary: I am now getting insights on my network that I never could get before. On top of that, this solution is VERY well documented and the support team behind it makes it so easy to get exactly what I want out of the solution. I stopped wasting money on buzz-word SaaS solutions and went with NMIS.

Positive: All the years of paying way too much for the hot new SaaS network monitoring solution are behind me. NMIS delivers a self-hosted (or self cloud hosted, costing very little and running on low spec VMs) network monitoring solution that provides insight into my network, informs me on the health of my network, and helps me make design decisions.

Negative: It is hard to get used to NMIS if you're accustomed to the expensive and beautiful interfaces provided by the big name SaaS solutions. However, you will fall in love with it once you hit up the onboarding team, read some of the docs and guides, and get it set up to fit your needs.

    NMIS Review

    Date: Jul 09 2021

Summary: Free at its core but with commercial support available and a range of commercial modules. I particularly like their event management module.

Positive: Powerful and free. Good performance management and excellent configuration and event management if using the commercial modules.

Negative: Advanced functions like multi server architecture and high end event management require a commercial license.
