LETRS Description
The LETRS®, (Language Essentials For Teachers of Reading and Spelling) Suite professional learning provides educators and administrators with the knowledge and skills to become literacy and language experts in science of reading. It was developed by Dr. Louisa Moats and Dr. Carol Tolman, who are renowned literacy experts. It is a flexible literacy professional learning option for educators and administrators. LETRS teaches you the skills necessary to master reading instruction, phonological consciousness, fluency vocabulary, comprehension, writing, language, and fluency. Research shows that only 35% students can read proficiently, while 95% of students can learn to read. Teachers are crucial to student success, but only half of teaching institutions have the ability to prepare teachers for literacy instruction. Reading comprehension and science are essential for teaching reading.
