Hiberden Description
Hiberden is an innovative desktop archiving application designed to provide robust 3-2-1 protection for extensive media libraries. This powerful tool allows users to archive projects to various storage options such as LTO tape (LTFS, featuring multi-cartridge spanning), local disks, NAS, and S3-compatible cloud services, all from a single catalog interface. Users can easily identify which projects are fully secure, at risk, or lacking protection with just a quick glance. Each file undergoes hashing (using SHA-256) during the writing process, and only after Hiberden reads the file back from the media and verifies every hash is it marked as Verified, ensuring that your catalog serves as reliable evidence rather than mere hope. Additionally, scheduled verification sweeps are implemented to re-check copies over time, allowing for the detection of silent corruption before you actually need the files. Hiberden also enables instant file retrieval across all copies, including those stored on offline tapes. A built-in MCP server facilitates interaction with AI assistants such as Claude, enabling straightforward inquiries like "is the Johnson wedding safe, and where?" directly from your catalog. Compatible with Windows 10/11, and currently in beta for Linux users, Hiberden offers a free trial, followed by a one-time perpetual license without the need for a subscription. This application is specifically designed for studios, archivists, and anyone who requires their files to endure beyond their hardware's lifespan, ensuring long-term data security and accessibility.
