Grant Manager Description
Grant Manager is most often used as a shadow accounting program. Like an individual keeping a checkbook registry to check his/her checkbook against bank statements, most university departments maintain their own "checkbook registers". This is to ensure that their accounts are properly handled by "the bank". Their institution's main accounting division. Because balancing university accounts is a more complicated task than balancing individual checking accounts, there are many things that can go wrong in the main department's accounting department. There may be errors in fringe and overhead calculations for individual transactions. Inadvertent debits may be made for certain salaries or purchases. Credits and transfers may become lost from one point to the next. Grant Manager gives accountants and principal investigators an instant, real-time, and accurate view of expenditures, credits, and account balances for each individual account/grant.
