Dropbox DocSend Description

DocSend from Dropbox is a secure document sharing platform built for teams that need to control access, track engagement, and manage sensitive business documents throughout the dealmaking process. It helps companies share pitch decks, investor updates, board materials, due diligence documents, acquisition files, sales content, client materials, and other confidential assets. With DocSend, users can upload documents, create virtual data rooms, set permissions, require non-disclosure agreements, and update files after they have already been shared. Links can be shared without requiring viewers to log in, making the experience simple while still giving document owners control over access. The platform’s analytics show who viewed a document, when they opened it, and which pages or sections received the most attention. DocSend supports fundraising by helping founders keep decks current and understand investor interest throughout outreach. It also supports mergers and acquisitions, investment management, professional services, technology sales, media sales, nonprofit work, board communications, and investor relations. Features such as secure sharing, document analytics, video analytics, dynamic watermarking, data rooms, eSignature, and built-in NDA workflows help teams protect and manage critical information. DocSend is built for organizations that want a more secure, measurable, and professional way to share documents and manage high-stakes collaboration.

    Securely share documents

    Edited: Nov 07 2020

Summary: Our overall experience has been extremely good with DocSend. It makes it possible to securely share documents. Also gives the power to make Role-based permission. On accessibility and features, DocSend is best.

Positive: DocSend is a secure document sharing platform, it allows to share with password lock method. On the positive side, it's very intuitive and easy to setup. Role-based permission is also allowed to give the user-specific access permission.
As a user and administrator I highly recommend this.

Negative: DocSend is good for document sharing but the interface is slightly bad.

    Secure sharing platform

    Date: Jul 18 2020

Summary: Modern virtual data rooms are available. Customisable features. Extremely valuable tool for our sales and marketing team. Improved our sales abilities. Initiative and easy to use software. All rounder tool to manage documents. Free trial package available.

Positive: DocSend helps us to keep our confidential documents secure and accessible at any time. Some of its features are instant notifications, live present, real-time content, document watermarking, viewer verification, custom reporting etc. Easily integrates with Gmail, Dropbox, OneDrive and Outlook. It creates unique link for each viewer we want to track. Multiple documents can be shared at a time. Secure and reliable app.

Negative: Customer support are very supportive. Love the way they handle issues. No cons.

Would not recommend for large transactions

    Date: Oct 24 2020

Summary: Overall this is not a good experience for larger diligence requirements or for large groups. Small groups or projects with less than 1000 documents is fine.

Positive: The software works well for small and slightly larger companies, but for bigger transactions or companies this falls short on several levels:

Negative: Each "Space" can only accommodate 1000 documents. This may sound like a lot, but uploading monthly statements from several bank accounts and several years can easily take up a significant amount of this. And it's not disclosed.

You cant upload a "folder" you have to recreate the folder and then upload contents. If you have several folders within folders you have to recreate this structure in DocSend.

While it is only $10 per user -- I am paying +$200 per month because I needed larger Space size (1000 documents).

The navigation to update or add users is terrible:
    1. Go to Space
    2. Hit "Share"
    3. Press the "..." that shows up on next screen
    4. Hit "Edit Link Settings"
    5. Hit "Manage"
    6. Enter email, hit "Add"

Also, the platform does not notify members if a document is added or updated -- so the users need to be notified after you upload or change a doc.

And support is not immediate -- usually about an hour and not available on weekends.
