CoolCroco is an efficient and free image viewer designed specifically to streamline the editing process without delays. It processes an entire folder of RAW files using background workers, storing them in memory so that once the initial loading is complete, users can navigate through countless frames seamlessly, either forwards or backwards, without any need for re-decoding or cache issues. Culling is simplified to a single keystroke, allowing users to move a file into an Approved folder with one key, send it to Rejected with another, and easily revert it with Ctrl+Z. Notably, files are never permanently deleted; they are merely repositioned alongside the original files. Users can assign ratings from 1 to 5, recorded as XMP metadata, compatible with Lightroom, Bridge, and Capture One. The software supports RAW formats from a variety of camera brands, including Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Leica, Hasselblad, and Phase One, as well as standard image formats like HEIC, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and WebP, accommodating up to 100,000 images in a single folder. Additionally, it has the capability to identify duplicates and burst shots, detect frames that are out of focus, and search through a shoot based on the content of the images, ensuring all processing is conducted locally on your computer.
