Description

Solispec serves as an intuitive web-based tool designed for solar installers, PV designers, homeowners, distributors, and mounting manufacturers, facilitating the complete process of solar design and proposal generation. This platform integrates various functions, including site analysis, structural assessments, and customer proposals into one cohesive system. Users have the capability to design ground-mounted solar arrays and analyze both flat and pitched roofs while evaluating the structural integrity of mounting systems against snow and wind loads. Additionally, the software allows for the configuration of PV strings across MPPT inputs, and it can produce detailed drawings, cutting lists, and bills of materials. It also provides estimations for PV energy production and payback periods, visualizes shade from trees and buildings in 3D, and generates customized proposals that can be exported as PDFs or shared via a link for client acceptance. Users can choose from a range of manufacturer equipment or input their own products and pricing. Homeowners have the option to create preliminary designs, while professionals benefit from project and client management features, with the Business tier offering roles for team members and workflows for engineer reviews. However, it is crucial that all structural outputs undergo evaluation by a qualified professional prior to installation to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. This comprehensive approach not only enhances the efficiency of the design process but also empowers users with the tools necessary for effective project management.

Description

Photovoltaic systems can vary widely, ranging from small installations on residential rooftops to expansive utility-scale projects. Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) systems are utilized for generating electricity and come in various forms, such as parabolic troughs, power towers, and linear Fresnel designs. Projects often involve power purchase agreements (PPAs) that connect the system to the grid at a designated interconnection point, allowing revenue generation through the sale of electricity. Ownership of these projects can reside with a single entity or involve partnerships that may include flip or leaseback arrangements. Additionally, there are instances of third-party ownership where the solar system is situated on the property of the customer, but the ownership lies with a separate developer who compensates the host for the electricity produced, typically through a PPA or a lease agreement. This model not only facilitates the adoption of solar energy but also provides financial incentives for property owners to invest in renewable energy solutions.
