Description

Simcenter EDEM is an advanced tool utilizing the Discrete Element Method to simulate bulk materials and particles, providing engineers with essential insights into the interactions of granular substances with handling equipment under various operational and processing scenarios. It effectively models and evaluates the dynamics of materials such as coal, minerals, soils, fibers, grains, tablets, powders, rocks, and crops. With a wide array of pre-existing, calibrated material model libraries for rocks, ores, soils, and powders, users can quickly begin their simulations, while the validated physics models accommodate a variety of material behaviors, including dry, sticky, and compressible types. Furthermore, Simcenter EDEM excels at simulating intricate, large-scale particle systems that can consist of millions of particles, offering rapid and scalable computing capabilities on CPU, GPU, and multi-GPU configurations. This versatility makes it an invaluable resource for engineers seeking to optimize the handling and processing of granular materials across diverse industries.

Description

Solpile is a desktop application designed for Windows, aimed at geotechnical and structural engineers who need to evaluate a single pile subjected to lateral forces within layered soil profiles. The software allows users to specify the pile's geometry, sectional characteristics, and the various soil layers present, after which they can apply pile-head or distributed loads to compute the pile's reaction. It incorporates sophisticated p-y soil models along with a finite-difference beam-on-springs solver for accurate analysis. The program offers a variety of analysis options, including considerations for groundwater, sloped terrains, battered piles, both static and cyclic loading, soil displacement, nonlinear behavior of pile sections, axial-load interactions, and LRFD combinations. Outputs include detailed information on deflection, bending moments, shear forces, soil reactions, and p-y curves at specified depths. Furthermore, users can conduct additional investigations into pushover responses, buckling, stiffness, and the optimal length for piles. Results can be easily exported into formats such as PDF, Word, and Excel, and the application accommodates both SI and US customary units. Solpile operates on Windows 10 and 11, featuring an online licensing system, while also permitting offline use for a duration of up to 30 days, ensuring flexibility for engineers on the go. Additionally, the interface is user-friendly, facilitating a seamless experience for professionals in the field.
