Description
MicMac is an open-source photogrammetric suite, licensed under Cecill-B, designed for a range of 3D reconstruction applications. While the software primarily targets professional and academic users, there are ongoing efforts to enhance its accessibility for a broader audience. One of its key advantages is its impressive versatility, allowing it to be applied across diverse domains such as cartography, environmental studies, industry, forestry, heritage preservation, and archaeology. MicMac facilitates the generation of both 3D models and ortho-imagery when suitable. It is capable of handling objects of various sizes, from small items and statues captured from ground level to larger structures like churches and castles using drone imagery, as well as extensive environments like buildings, cities, or natural landscapes through aerial or satellite methods. Furthermore, the software provides tools for georeferencing products in local, global, or absolute coordinate systems. Additionally, several supplementary tools expand its capabilities into metrology and site surveying, enriching its functionality in professional applications.
Description
PhotoMesh is a versatile photogrammetry application that transforms aerial, drone, and terrestrial images, videos, and LiDAR data into both 2D and 3D geospatial products that are georeferenced. It creates various outputs, including textured 3D meshes, Gaussian splatting models, point clouds, true orthophotos, and digital surface and terrain models. The software incorporates aerotriangulation, ground control points, quality reporting, and alignment features with existing 3D datasets or LiDAR, facilitating repeated surveys, change detection, mapping, infrastructure engineering, and asset inspections. Capable of processing extensive image collections, PhotoMesh allows project workloads to be distributed across multiple fuser machines or cloud resources for enhanced efficiency. It supports diverse types of imagery, including RGB, multispectral, and thermal. The software generates outputs like 3DML, 3D Tiles, I3S/SLPK, LAS, and GeoTIFF, which are ideal for GIS applications and 3D visualization processes. Additionally, integration with REST APIs enables automation in production and effective management of project queues. PhotoMesh is primarily designed for Windows, but it also offers Linux support for fuser installations and includes a separate managed service for cloud processing, providing users with flexible options for their photogrammetry needs. This adaptability makes it a valuable tool for professionals across various industries looking to enhance their geospatial analysis capabilities.
