Description

Lemmy serves as a decentralized platform for social link aggregation and discussion, operating on a self-hosted model. It is entirely free and open-source, ensuring independence from corporate control, which eliminates advertising, user tracking, and concealed algorithms. Users can navigate through various communities, facilitating subscriptions to preferred topics while easily disregarding those that do not interest them. The platform employs a voting system that elevates the most engaging content to prominence. Remaining committed to being free and open source, Lemmy operates under the robust copyleft AGPL License. Built using cutting-edge frameworks and tools such as Rust, Actix, Diesel, Inferno, and Typescript, Lemmy ensures high performance. Each individual server has the autonomy to establish its own moderation rules, promoting a constructive atmosphere that encourages participation from everyone. With Lemmy, users have the opportunity to host their own servers, all of which are interconnected through a federated system reminiscent of email, culminating in a vast network known as the Fediverse. This interconnectedness allows for diverse interactions across servers, enriching the user's experience and engagement within the community.

Description

Rustless serves as a micro-framework for creating REST-like APIs using Rust, offering a straightforward domain-specific language (DSL) that builds atop the Iron web framework. It incorporates support for various conventions, such as content negotiation, versioning, and restrictions based on subdomains or prefixes, among other features. Originating as a port of the Ruby library Grape, Rustless relies on Hyper, Rust's HTTP library, though it is important to note that both Rustless and its underlying components are still undergoing development. Users may encounter changes in APIs or potential issues, and they are encouraged to report any problems or contribute by submitting pull requests. Given that Iron, and subsequently Hyper, operates synchronously, Hyper currently faces limitations in handling numerous simultaneous connections, particularly with keep-alive options. Therefore, it is advisable to pair Rustless with a lightweight asynchronous web server like Nginx configured as a reverse proxy to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This combination aims to enhance the overall efficiency of applications developed using Rustless while navigating its developmental challenges.
