Description
Irri Maker serves as a comprehensive solution for professionals involved in irrigation system design. It encompasses a range of services including terrain surveys, CAD operations, planning, hydraulic calculations, and equipment reporting, ensuring that all your needs are met. This digital terrain modeling software has gained significant recognition and is extensively utilized across South Africa and various international markets, particularly in land surveying, engineering, mining, and construction sectors. Since its inception in 1980, the software has undergone continuous improvements to align with evolving industry standards and the latest advancements in computer technology. In 1998, an irrigation design module was introduced, making it the sole software package that offers intuitive and well-supported functionalities for digital terrain modeling, CAD, and irrigation design within a single platform. It operates independently from other commercial software, boasting its own plotting and reporting capabilities, which enhances user experience. Additionally, users benefit from comprehensive graphical control for the automated and manual development of micro, drip, and sprinkler irrigation networks, making it an invaluable resource for irrigation professionals. Its versatility and user-friendly interface have solidified its reputation in the field.
Description
In 2001, the SURDEV software suite was created through a collaboration among the International Institute for Land Reclamation and Improvement (ILRI), Wageningen Environmental Research, and the Institute of Land and Water Management of the Catholic University of Leuven (ILWM) in Belgium. This suite includes three specialized programs: BASDEV, designed for level basins; BORDEV, tailored for sloping borders; and FURDEV, which focuses on graded furrows. Surface irrigation utilizes the force of gravity to effectively distribute water across agricultural fields. As gravity pulls the water, it traverses the fields from one end to another, allowing it to seep into the soil during its flow. Among the various surface irrigation methods, the most prevalent include level basins (which may or may not have level furrows), sloping borders, and sloping furrows, all aimed at efficiently delivering water. The primary goal of these irrigation techniques is to ensure that crops receive water in precise amounts, at optimal times, and in a consistent manner, which ultimately fosters a uniform crop growth while minimizing water wastage. Furthermore, the careful application of these practices can lead to improved agricultural productivity and sustainability.
