Description

ArsClip is a free utility designed to manage clipboard entries effectively. This clipboard manager keeps track of all copied items and allows users to paste them through a convenient popup window. The activation of this window can occur via various methods, such as a hotkey, a right-click hold, or a designated trigger window. Operating from the system tray, ArsClip continuously watches for new clipboard entries. When users wish to reuse a previously copied item, they can simply open the ArsClip popup and select their desired clip. While there are several ways to invoke the popup, the default method is through a global hotkey, set to CTRL+Shift+Z, which can be customized according to user preference. Every time a new item is copied to the Windows clipboard, ArsClip captures it, retaining up to 15 of the most recent clips in its memory. Once this limit is reached, the oldest entry is transferred to a separate cache designated for Removed Clips, thereby ensuring that users always have access to their latest clipboard data. This feature greatly enhances productivity by streamlining the way users manage multiple clipboard entries.

Description

Glipper serves as a clipboard manager tailored for the GNOME desktop environment, allowing users to keep a log of text copied to their clipboard for easy retrieval. It enhances user experience through a variety of plugins that introduce additional functionality. Unlike earlier iterations that operated as a GNOME applet, the latest version employs an app indicator to offer support for both Ubuntu Unity and the Gnome Classic interface. This tool enables users of Unix-like systems to revisit a history of X Selections, allowing quick reselection for pasting. Glipper is frequently likened to KDE's Klipper as its counterpart within GNOME. While earlier versions allowed operation outside of GNOME, the current version 1.0 is exclusively for GNOME due to its deep integration with its features. Nonetheless, it can still function within Xfce4's panel by utilizing the XfApplet wrapper, thereby making it compatible with any custom session incorporating xfce4-panel, such as those using Openbox. This versatility ensures that users can benefit from Glipper's capabilities across different desktop environments.
