Description
Akamai Prolexic is a DDoS protection solution that helps organizations protect internet-facing infrastructure from attacks that can cause outages, service degradation, and network congestion. The platform supports cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployments and can operate continuously or be activated on demand depending on an organization's requirements. Incoming traffic is routed through Prolexic, where mitigation controls inspect traffic, identify malicious activity, remove attack traffic, and forward clean traffic to the customer's infrastructure. Akamai provides 32 global anycast scrubbing centers and more than 20 Tbps of dedicated DDoS defense capacity within its broader network infrastructure of more than 1 Pbps. Prolexic includes dynamic mitigation controls for IPv4 and IPv6 traffic, network-wide access control lists, and firewall capabilities through Prolexic Network Cloud Firewall. Organizations can also use Prolexic over Akamai Direct Connect to establish private, high-performance connectivity between their origins and Akamai's DDoS protection infrastructure. Akamai provides a 100% Prolexic platform availability SLA and a zero-second mitigation SLA, with 24/7/365 support and optional managed security operations services. The service is backed by more than 225 frontline Security Operations Command Center defenders who assist customers before, during, and after attacks. Prolexic is intended for enterprises, network operators, cloud and hosting companies, and SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS providers requiring high-capacity DDoS protection across distributed infrastructure.
Description
The rapid escalation in the scale, frequency, and complexity of volumetric DNS attacks is significantly driven by the widespread use of unsecured IoT devices, along with trends like mobility and BYOD. Hackers are increasingly targeting DNS services, particularly for layer 7 DDoS attacks, making it one of the most vulnerable application layers. Although many organizations recognize the security threats posed by DDoS attacks, a substantial number have yet to implement modern DNS DDoS protection measures, often relying on outdated enterprise network security solutions like firewalls that are ill-suited for the DNS protocol. It is crucial for companies to adopt innovative DDoS mitigation strategies to address these evolving threats effectively. To ensure robust business continuity, safeguard data confidentiality, and enhance user experience, organizations must invest in specialized DNS protection solutions that offer both high performance and advanced analytics, thereby achieving the security standards their businesses require and deserve.
