tomhudson's Journal: OnLawn Looses Same-Sex Marriage Debate to Godwin's Law

It's rare for one side to be able to claim victory in any internet debate. In fact, there are only two generally-acknowledged ways to win: either your opponent concedes, or runs afoul of Godwin's Law.

[Usenet] "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one." There is a tradition in many groups that, once this occurs, that thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress.

There's been an ongoing battle over these 3 entries in my journal:

1. More stuff on gay marriage, religion, etc... [292 comments : now archived]
   supporting same-sex marriages
2. New poll: Would you bang her? [257 comments so far]
   started in response to a slew of OnLawn's remarks against the differently-gendered;
3. A second troll outs himself [80 comments so far]
   started when I caught OnLawn posting AC but forgetting to check the "post anonymously" box

No one was as pleased as I was, to be able to be able to claim victory against OnLawn the Troll in my journal entry: More stuff on gay marriage, religion, etc... here in response to this post by the OnLawn Troll
