Journal Journal: Transaction Processing Pioneer Missing at Sea

According to the NYTimes, Turing Award winner and pioneer in the field of database systems and transaction processing, James Grey, was reported missing Sunday night after failing to return home from a sailing trip. Though the Coast Guard has allegedly called off the search, NPR reported this morning that groups of engineers at Google and Amazon have picked up the baton and have begun trying to pinpoint his present location using in house global mapping software. Amazon CTO Werner Vogels has made their satellite imagery data available and now is asking for the public's help.

It is much easier to suggest solutions when you know nothing about the problem.
