Journal MsGeek's Journal: Fully Booked, with Financial Aid appeal around the corner
Aside from the book I need for Health 11, which I will only find out about once I get to my first class meeting, I now have all the books I need for my first semester of school on order. Some good folks have stopped by my wish list and ordered for me...my hat is off to them.
As far as financial aid goes, I will be meeting with a guidance counselor on Monday and hopefully the appeal will be ironed out right then and there. According to what the supervisor at the Financial Aid office has said, it is very likely I will win on appeal because:
1.) I'm a returning student and certain requirements (keeping "W"s on the transcript above a 50/50 ratio) weren't in place the last semester I attended. (Fall 1984, West LA College)
2.) I am changing my major and there were no previous major changes considered for Financial Aid waivers.
3.) My GPA never dipped below 2.00 at any point in my transcript from the LA Community College District as a whole, and my last GPA at WLAC was over a B average. (3.375 to be exact)
4.) I'm almost 20 years older and have become a different person than the 19-year-old who bailed on college the first time.
So hopefully everything can be worked out.
