I HATE KDE! It's awfull! There's far too much of it! So, after having had many adventures with a dual-boot system, and having had lots of bad superblock errors I've just removed the Windows OS and gone back to an all-Ubuntu setup. here's to happy computing!

Well Ubuntu has gone the way of all flesh to be replaced by Kubuntu. This has everything I need - I've put Pan on it, Thunderbird, and Firefox. Upgraded Open Office to Beta 2. Yippee!

Well I decided that FC4 didn't really foot the bill for what I'm after in a Distro. I decided that it was too top-heavy, especially with all the options available. So I deleted the partition and tried Kubuntu. Very nice. However, I HATE KNODE AND KMAIL. So after a bit of humming and hah-ing, I removed that and went to standard Ubuntu, which has Pan, and a choice of either Evolution (in which I am at the moment struggling to get Gmail to work) or Thunderbird. Just updated to Open Office 2 (beta) which is good.

Well things got a bit more complicated recently - I started a new job where they use (yes you guessed - ) Windows and Office. So to be compatible at home I removed FC4, re formatted the HDD and went back to XP and Office 2003. YUCK! So after a couple of weeks messing about with AV programs and anti-spyware programs, I decided to re-partition my HDD to enable a dual-boot. I did that yesterday, and the install went even easier than the first time, with the knowledge I gainrd. Downloaded Pan, and everything is now hunky dory. I boot to Windows if I need to do anything work-wise which is not compatible with Open Office, but use FC4 for everything else! Great!

Downloaded the Fedora Core 4 iso's with Bittorrent - my first sally with that software. Install went like a breeze. Only problems, no Xine, no Pan, but that was easily remedied. Everything seems to be OK so far.

Well here I am at the end of the first week with NO WINDOWS on the desktop at all. I ditched Windows XP and Office 2003 at the end of last week, and so far the result has been entirely satisfactory. OK so possibly installing new apps can be a PITA but on the whole, between yum and Red Hat Network, things haven't been too bad.
