Journal CmdrTaco's Journal: What a Morning

Ever have one of those days? It's not even 11 and I feel like I'm having 3 of them. First off I had a couple of emails complaining about trolling (or more accurately, being trolled). Then I had my every-couple-of-days accusation email. This time it was the mistaken belief that VA had passed down official mandate to reject a story. It never ceases to amaze me how often people invent malicious intent where there is only apathy. No, there is no corporate vendetta, I just don't care about your personal pet project. It's just frusterating. WHen you reject 500 submissions on a busy day, its only natural that a couple of people take it personally. Its just frusterating when they can't leave it at that, and I start getting emails that are several steps of seperation from the source, and are essentially saying I have no integrity. I guess I'm feeling overly sensitive today for some reason.

It's probably because I failed to get much sleep last night. I'm sure thats not helping matters. I went to bed at 11:30 immediatelly following the Daily Show, but didn't start nodding off until past midnight. Then one of the cats started yowling and work me up. I was definitely awake at 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30. And then, best of all, I awoke at 6:30! My body says "Hooray! 4 hours of sleep is plenty! Get out of bed you ass!"

And plus it started snowing in michigan. Gotta find a snow plow if I'm going to be able to continue to drive to work every morning. My old place had a driveway that was 4x as long as this one, but my step-brother-in-law plowed for me. Since I moved I gotta find someone out here to do it. Then again, being buried in might be pretty cool, if I had reasonable bandwidth.

Icing on the mornings cake: I got up on time, drove to work, posted a story, and then forgot to press *save* on the goddamn web form. So for hte next 2 hours I keep deleting submission after submission about Mozilla 1.2.1 thinking "geezus, are people blind?" and not realizing that no, I am in fact stupid. Of course, why so many people submit a bug fix release of a web browser is beyond me. Some stories I'd rather not post, but sheer volume of submissions really makes it impractical to ignore them.

I just finished book one of ALan Moore's Top 10 and I really dug it. The last few issues especially were great fun- the issue with Santa Claus, and the one with the Godz patrons perpetually killing each other. Great sense of humor. Next up in my reading pile is the Death of Superman trilogy. I've been waiting awhile to read them, but I think its time. I'm planning a few days of vacation soon, so that'll be a good time for some quiet and peaceful reading.

Oh, and Taken was really surprisingly good. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it. But geezus, 10 straight weeknights? Would it have been so bad to just make it mon-wed-fri or something? 2 hours a night for 2 straight weeks is a substantial committement to make to anything.

The decision doesn't have to be logical; it was unanimous.
