Journal CmdrTaco's Journal: Tranquility In the Gaming World
I replaced many components in my machine. I simply couldn't stabily run 3D video games under 98, 2K, or XP. The memory and the motherboard were both bad. And the power supply blew out.
At long last everything is back together. The machine still needs a few details (I want to replace the case fans with those translucent 2-tone red/blue case fans that I saw at LinuxWorld. And maybe I'll replace the heat sink with some sort of watercooling system, but neither of those things have to happen in the short term.
Right now, I can play Neverwinter Nights. And I shall. I haven't really had any time off since I moved last April. I have a short vacation in october planned, and at some point in the future I have to get married, and I plan to take a week or so then too. But in the meantime, I have the maximum amount of vacation time acrued and think perhaps a few days of non stop video gaming would be a soul purging activity. I have a level 4 sorceress that needs to kill everything with, or without a pulse, throughout the world of NWN!
LinuxWorld was pretty nice. The show itself was relatively predictable, but it was nice chilling out in San Francisco a bit too. I finally saw the Golden Gate Bridge. I failed to eat Sushi. And my back still hurts from the airplane chair that refused to recline. But I'm home with Kathleen, the Cats, and now, a PC that can play NWN. What else could you need?
