Comment Simple, Yet Challenging (Score 4, Interesting) 220

I installed on my Android tablet (Acer Iconia, btw). I have not played games since Quake II - yeah, I'm old(er). But I thought I'd try it out just to see what all the hype was about.

Here's why I keep playing it: Learning the game was fast and the controls are intuitive. I can fire it up in seconds, play a few levels and be done. I don't feel like I need to invest hours in it just to get good at it. But the game itself is actually enjoyable and satisfying to play. Look, after a day of stress at work, I don't really want to "work" at playing a game. I want to relax and have some fun. The graphics are well done and the sounds made by the birds and pigs are humorous. Even after playing it for weeks, I still giggle a little at the sound effects.

But really, the biggest thing is that the game is good for time-fill rather than time-suck. Also, let's face it: There are millions (billions?) more people who are not "gamers" than there are "gamers". (Too many quotes? Possibly.)

The problem is that the vast majority of users have no idea the BIOS even exists, let alone how to change a setting within the BIOS.

Meaning that if that if "Secure Boot" is enabled by default, then it will never be changed by the end user. Linux users and computer enthusiasts in general will not have a problem with it. But, honestly, MS doesn't care about that 0.5%.

I wish people would realize that even if a corporation pays a 35% tax rate, they don't really pay it. Their customers do; in the form of higher prices.

Business operates by generating a profit. When another cost comes in, prices are raised to maintain the same level of profit. Tax is a cost. So every time one of you geniuses screams about a business not paying their fair share, you are really saying that YOU are not paying your fair share.

Taxing more is not the answer. Taxing fairly is.

If you earn $40k / year, don't spend money like you make $80k. Debt is stress. Debt is unhappiness. Avoid it.

People of all various income levels can be happy or not. It depends on how they choose to live their lives. People who over-spend because they think having those nicer things will make them more happy end up being owned by their things. And in debt. Both of which lead to unhappiness and stress.

I am quite happy. Why is that? My home mortgage is less than half of what I could afford. I drive an 8 year old car which I paid off 5 years ago. Therefore, I have some enough money each month for entertainment and also enough to save for the future.

No stress and I get to have fun. Stop trying to keep up with the proverbial Joneses. It will inevitably lead you toward stress and unhappiness.

Seriously. You can purchase much more powerful & useful devices that have a similar footprint for hundreds of $ less. While also freeing you from Apple's arbitrary application approval. The massive sales numbers of the iPad is truly baffling.
