Submission + - A Mac Gets Whacked

Macthorpe writes: "The Register is reporting that a MacBook Pro has been sufficiently compromised to give a remote user complete control of the computer, with the flaw discovered as part of TippingPoint and CanSecWest's pledge to reward the first two such exploits found. The prize was shared by two people, with Shane Macauley walking away with the compromised MacBook for executing the exploit and Dino Dai Zovi taking the $10,000 bounty for finding the flaw and successfully exploiting it.

Dino Dai Zovi, a self-described 'Mac fanboy', explained: "It works. It is real. This is not something that I have made up... It seems that a lot of people harbour the belief that the Mac doesn't have these problems, but it does.""

Submission + - Why does Firefox on OS X suck?

An anonymous reader writes: I'm a recent switcher to Mac OS X from Windows. Firefox on Windows is excellent, Firefox on Linux is pretty good, but Firefox on OS X is terrible: intermittent crashes, freezes, tabbing between input boxes on web pages skips all drop-down boxes. So how come? The OS X version gets the updates that all the other versions get, but they never fix anything major.

The Alky Project claims to have reverse-engineered Geometry Shader code, allowing Windows games to run on Windows XP, MacOSX and Linux. The Inquirer is understandably cautious about these claims, urging readers to investigate the releases themselves to assertain whether or not it's a hoax.

I havent played the beta multi player version, but does anynone else know if bungie is using the testers games that have the beta, like having surveys for those who play the beta?"
