Submission + - Can IPTV replace Digital Cable yet?

lordicarus writes: I have been an avid reader of Slashdot for nearly 7 years now and have grown to really appreciate the feedback provided by the readers on various questions. My day has come where I have a question that could really use the assistance of the collective mind here.

If you were ever in a situation where you wanted to get all of your television needs... ahem... legally, and you have no access to a cable connection or satellite what would you do? Can IPTV over a broadband cell card get you your fix? Is there some other way to get all the good cable channels I want like SciFi, USA, FX, Comedy Central, Bravo, Cartoon Network, VH1, etc?

I have searched online for various IPTV providers and some of them have a few of those channels (Joost seems to have the most), but not all of them. Is there some option out there that I simply haven't found and don't know about, or am I sadly just SOL?

Submission + - Meteorite Causes Illness in Peru (physorg.com)

eldavojohn writes: "A meteorite struck in Peru on Saturday leaving cinders, rock & water boiling out of the ground. Villagers nearby reported headaches & vomiting and attributed it to the event. From the article, "Seven policemen who went to check on the reports also became ill and had to be given oxygen before being hospitalized, Lopez said. Rescue teams and experts were dispatched to the scene, where the meteorite left a 100-foot-wide (30-meter-wide) and 20-foot-deep (six-meter-deep) crater, said local official Marco Limache." It's not yet clear whether this is from the meteorite, gas trapped underground that was released or a chemical reaction between the two."

Submission + - NASA misspelled shuttle name (starlog.ro)

wolf369T writes: "NASA apparently misspelled the name of the next shuttle planned for launch from pad 39A of Kennedy Space Center, Local6.com reported. The banner placed in front of the pad said "Go Endeavor", missing the "u" from the correct "Go Endeavour" spelling. They put a man in the moon but they still have some problems with spelling their own shuttles and you wonder if a Mars probe fails now and then...
The issue was fixed after some calls were made. Go Endeavour!"
