The amount of new features added via the playstation firmware upgrades far outweight losing the OtherOS "feature" which virtually no one in the grand scheme of things actually used.

You quote a two year old article and still treat it as current? The licence reason was solved a long time ago as well. Jobs doesn't want blu-ray because of iTunes, that is all.

So, what is your point. The PS3 I had before 2.1, and the PS3 other consumers had at that time didn't support Divx, they didn't until Sony released v2.1 of the firmware.

I think you will find that version 2.1 added Divx support

TV shows cost much, much less to produce than movies, but compare $15-20 for a movie DVD vs. $40-$50 for a TV show season. I know that one is 2 hours vs. the other being 30-40 hours, but margins on selling a TV season DVD are orders of magnitudes higher than for movie DVD.

A TV series on DVD/Blu-Ray will be no longer than 16 hours, 20-23 episodes a season, 42 minutes an episode
