I think that it all depends on the details of your situation. 1. Macs. Yes, switching them to Macs will eliminate your support time, but it isn't a cheap solution. 2. Linux. It's fine for some people, but switching to Linux to reduce support time is like switching to Zima to reduce your bar tab. People who don't want to learn about tech won't like any flavor of Linux. 3. Windows. If you stick with Windows, install Firefox with Adblock Plus. Delete all IE icons. Move them to web mail. Make a disk image of each machine. Disk imaging software will save you a ton of time on the occasions where a reformat is needed.

Merenth writes: Google announced today on their official blog that Gmail has finally left beta.
They have added an option under Google Labs to re-enable the beta tag if you miss it.

Google Docs, Google Talk and Google Calendar are also leaving beta status.

Sophos Releases Klingon Language Version 94

Bantu1 writes to mention an attention grab by anti-virus company Sophos, which is now offering a Klingon language version of their popular anti-virus software. Now Qo'nos too can be completely safe from the storm. If only we could see a Sophos logo in the next Paramount endeavor, the cycle would be complete.

Windows XP will pass another milestone next week on the road to retirement when mainstream support ends on 14 April 2009, over seven years after the OS originally shipped. While the company said that it will continue to provide free security fixes for XP until 2014, any future bugs found in the platform will not be fixed unless customers pay. Windows XP accounts for about 63 percent of all Internet-connected computers, according to March 2009 statistics from Hitslink, while Windows Vista makes up about 24 percent."
