I also notice this problem with Firefox under linux. One way that I partially resolved it was with changing my gtk theme. Change to one that uses the generic gtk engine...not a fancy one like clearlooks or murrine or something. Some gtk engines are coded badly and lag a bit. Although it doesn't completely resolve the issue it speeds it up a bit...I have always wonder why firefox seems slower on linux than windows...I thought it was just me being crazy, but I guess not.

Finding Better Tech Broadcasts? 205

BearGrylls writes "As a young lad and aspiring technologist I have found shows like Revision3's 'The Broken' and 'Systm' to be entertaining, informative, and, most importantly, thorough. As time has gone on revision3 has kept some of the tech-related shows, but dumbed them down to appeal to a larger audience. This annoyed me, but I've continued to be a loyal viewer of their tech shows anyway. However, I suspect this trend to continue and my disappointment to grow. Where can I find tech shows that dive deep into projects and discussions instead of simply skimming the surface?"

SpaceX Flight 4 Launch Postponed 59

Matt_dk noted that yesterday's launch plans for SpaceX have hit some turbulence. He says "SpaceX Flight 4 Launch has been postponed. The static fire took place on Saturday [20 Sep 2008, CA time], as expected, and no major issues came up. However, after a detailed analysis of data, we decided to replace a component in the 2nd stage engine LOX supply line. There is a good chance we would be ok flying as is, but we are being extremely cautious. This adds a few extra days to the schedule, so the updated launch window estimate is now Sept 28th through Oct 1st [CA time]."
