Submission + - Are there too many scientists?

TimFenn writes: In a letter to Science, Dr. Richard Collins asks if the decline in NIH science funding and single-digit funding success rate for new grants suggests that there may be too many scientists (as new researchers attempting to make a career in science have a progressively lower chance of attaining, and maintaining, funding).
