A better, more hospitable place to visit and colonize would be the upper atmosphere above Venus (about 30 miles).
This position would offer perfect gravity, plentiful solar energy, nice temperature, good pressure to hold breathable air in place, CO2 and nitrogen for growing plants, natural radiation shielding, materials (silicon, iron, aluminum, magnesium, calcium, potassium, sodium) easily available (a space elevator would help), and several times the available room on Earth. Sure there would be issues avoiding corrosion and you would probably need to bring your own oxygen and water (as you would to Mars), but it is doable. Billions of humans could one day float happily there.
