Lately, prices of Blu-ray players have been coming down, but the PS3 is still one of the better options out there. Sony is taking advantage of this by starting to offer game demos on their Blu-ray offerings. While these demos will only be playable on the PS3, they hope the extra value will help drive sales."

Most multi-platform games are actually made with the other platforms in mind, so all the assets and engine are separate from the hardware as much as possible.
Some studios are better than others at getting the last little bit working well on each though.

"UNTAME is the product of a long-term program by the division's Cyber Security and Information Intelligence Research Group to develop futuristic security functionality for increasingly large, complex environments. The cybots differ from traditional software agents in that they form a collective and are aware of the condition and activities of other cybots in the collective. 'You give it a mission and tools to work with, such as mobility and intrusion sensors, and it uses those tools and cooperates with other cybots to accomplish the mission," said Lawrence MacIntyre, one of the project's developers.'"
Early Killzone 2 Reviews Looking Good 140
Reviews are beginning to appear for Guerrilla Games' upcoming first-person shooter, Killzone 2, a PS3 exclusive that has received a great deal of hype over the past several months. The reviews are mostly complimentary, but not overwhelmingly so; Ars Technica says it has "some of the best graphics yet seen on the PS3," and is a "solid take on the war-gaming genre." They also acknowledge that this is the latest game being held up as a standard for how good PS3 games can be, though the PS3 may not need such validation anymore. Edge Magazine is critical of the story, saying, "you could play the levels in random order to little ill-effect," but found the gameplay redeeming enough to warrant a 7/10. Concerns were raised early about the quality of the controls, but Guerrilla Games has affirmed that no changes will be made. Though the game won't be out for about a week yet, rumors of some fairly typical DLC plans are already cropping up. Giant Bomb recorded some video showcasing Killzone 2's multiplayer a while back.
Researcher Finds No Link Between Violent Games and School Shootings 116

Prof. Christopher Ferguson cites 'moral panic' and criticizes politicians, the news media and some social scientists for playing up what he believes is a false connection between video games and school shooting incidents. Quoting: 'Actual causes of violent crime, such as family environment, genetics, poverty, and inequality, are oftentimes difficult, controversial, and intractable problems. By contrast, video games present something of a "straw man" by which politicians can create an appearance of taking action against crime.'"

I am so angry that politicians are not accountable for their actions. It makes the implementation of democracy a farce because the people in power voted in by the public can basically do whatever the hell they want and walk away with a fat paycheck and pension without having to worry that if they do something seriously wrong they can be punished somehow.
Such a rort.
All it would take is some simple bad behavior = punishment laws for politicians but oh hold on its those same politicians that vote on the laws so of course they won't do that.
Don't even get me started on being able to give yourself a payrise.

Because if you do a lot of text editing they are much quicker and more efficient to use. The biggest thing I notice on a day to day basis is with a "mode" editor such as vi you can block comment out 20 lines of code with a single command rather than comment down across comment down across comment...
Syntax highlighting is also a huge bonus. I know that some other "gui" editors have this sort of thing now as well but its pretty standard on vi/emacs style editors.
The power you refer to is what makes them more useful than your standard gui modeless editor.
