Goobergunch writes: "The New York Times reports that Sprint, Time Warner, and Verizon have agreed to block websites and newsgroups containing child pornography. The deal, brokered by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, occurred after Cuomo's office threatened the ISPs with fraud charges. While child pornography may be disgusting, one wonders what kind of precedent this sets?"

Goobergunch writes: The Register is reporting that Carolyn Doran, Chief Operating Officer of the Wikimedia Foundation from January to July of this year, was a convicted felon, with a criminal record in four states. Wikipedia general counsel Mike Godwin said that he had "no direct knowledge" of her record. Responsibilities of the Chief Operating Officer included ensuring effective audit trails and approval of Foundation expenditures.

Goobergunch writes: A press release from Games Media Properties indicates that the World Series of Video Games, including planned events in Los Angeles, London and Sweden, has been cancelled. The WSVG included competitions for Guitar Hero II, Quake 4, and the World of Warcraft Arena, as well as Counter-Strike and Warcraft III.
