Porsupah writes "The Register reports that "Rep. Jay Inslee (D-WA) and Rep. Don Manzullo (R-IL) have headed the 'Internet Radio Equality Act,' which aims to stop the controversial March 2 decision which puts royalty of a .08 cent per song per listener, retroactively from 2006 to 2010 on internet radio," as imposed by a recent decision from the Copyright Royalty Board. "If passed, today's bill would set new rates at 7.5 percent of the webcaster's revenue — the same rate paid by satellite radio.""

The verdict is: "a tie, but only because both platforms fall short in some ways. Vista's roster of backup features aren't available in every SKU of the product; Ubuntu doesn't have anything like Vista's shadow copy system and its user-friendly backup tools are pretty rudimentary." OffTheLip writes: Chinese meteorologists claim to be able to force rain (http://asia.news.yahoo.com/070425/ap/d8onm45g0.ht ml) to fall before the 2008 Olympics begin thus insuring clean, clear air for the games. After years of work on cloud seeding the meteorologists hope their efforts can improve the probability that rain will not fall during the events.

"Technicians with the Beijing Weather Modification Office said they fired seven rocket shells containing 163 cigarette-size sticks of silver iodide over the city's skies. They claimed it provoked a chemical reaction in clouds that forced four-tenths of an inch of rain."

Beijing's air pollution is among the worst in the world but can this be a good thing?

ukhackster writes: The ongoing Wii supply problems haven't dampened Nintendo's ambitions. It posted a big leap in profits today, thanks to strong sales of both the Wii and the DS console. It shipped 150 million games last year, and has told journalists it wants to double that to 300 million. Bold ambition — but unless it manages to get more Wiis into the market it may struggle.....
