Fable III Announced For 2010 52

Flea of Pain writes "Fable III is finally in the works! 'Peter Molyneux revealed that his team is working on Fable III, which will arrive in late 2010, two years after the release of Fable II. The game will give you the primary task of becoming Albion's king and leading the people to happiness and the kingdom to glory. Fable III will be something bold and different, Molyneux promises, stating that story and drama will play a major part in it. New things will be done with the dog and the bread-crumb-trails mechanic, which were present in the second game, and you will be offered complete control of your actions and your people's actions, as you will be the king of Albion. ... [Y]ou will need to balance many things, including poverty and greed, tyranny and compassion or progress and tradition, all in order to keep your subjects happy. Furthermore, you will be able to set taxes and decide how you will rule your subjects. Your spouse, be it a king or a queen, will also point you into various directions over the course of the game. It seems that you will start as a son or daughter of the hero from Fable II and then progress until the halfway point of the game when you will be named king or queen of Albion. This means that you need to keep your save data from Fable II in order for a higher degree of customization.'"

Negativity towards Microsoft on Slashdot?! You've got to be kidding!

Anyway...

A few business principles are in order:

Business exists to satisfy a need in the market
Businesses exist to make money for its stakeholders
People work for businesses to make money

Microsoft, as a company, is expected to make more money year after year. Balmer, is tasked by the board to make sure this happens. It his responsibility to fight for Microsoft to make sure the percentage of growth exceeds inflation. If not, Balmer has not fulfilled his responsibility to the stakeholder.

So, why is it so surprising that Microsoft would "threaten" to move jobs outside of the US? Now, a few liberal government principles are in order:

Government exists to make money. It is incapable of producing for itself, therefore it must tax to satisfy this need.
Government is providing entitlement programs, including health, social security, disability, etc. New entitlements require funding, thus more taxes.
Anti-corporate sentiment from Democrats, leads them to believe that taxing the "rich" is appropriate. Microsoft and many other large businesses gross billions per year. The US Government believes its entitled to larger tax receipts from these businesses.

Microsoft can only pass the buck so far to the consumer, before they get pissed and switch to the competition. A stakeholder is leaving Microsoft (if this is the case) and Balmer must retain the consumer base.

Balmer is making the right call.

True, taxes are part of life. But, I'm not happy about any additional taxes, especially when I already feel like I'm over-taxed.

The federal government takes a considerable share of my money when I'm paid. In addition, when I'm given a bonus, or when my risk pays off in the stock market. There are plenty more taxes to mention, but my point is this: it's never enough for the state or federal government!

Loved the movie, went and saw it last night. Abrams has a whole new timeline to follow and it's bittersweet. On one hand, you're giving up the familiar, but on the other, you're getting some new adventure. I sure hope this same crew does another movie!

As for Rick Berman, the guy needs to be banned from ever writing another Trek movie. He has the capability of taking a good thing and fucking it up for everyone...

If your Dad and his friend have line of sight and if your Dad is willing to spend a little money, I recommend Trango radio's. I worked for a company in town that did rural broadband with Trango radios and they are stable.

I would recommend getting in touch with Trango and talk about the hardware needed to pull off this job. I'm pretty sure, with the distance, you would need the Atlas FOX model radios.

New radios can be pricey, so be sure to hit up EBAY.

Good luck!
