Submission + - Oregon Public Payouts total $3 billion a year (bojack.org)

scrout writes: Oregon now pays $3 billion a year in public employee pension payouts.
Current Tier 1 (pre 1996) participants get over 108% of their base pay and a GUARANTEED EIGHT PERCENT return on their account investments, regardless of what really happens in the market. NICE!!

Please, Is the military industrial complex to blame for severe restrictions on tree harvesting in the PNW? The spotted owl? The restrictions thru road closings and of even accessing the public forests by any vehicle? Restrictions on beach access due to the snowy plover, restrictions on fishing, removal of dams and water rights from farmers? Now about restriction of much needed irrigation water due to protection of sucker fish in a local lake? Sh*t, we had a perfectly good nuclear plant at Trojan and they dynamited the freaking cooling tower a few years ago, the part that was totally re-useable. Yes, most enviros are buttholes.

Rod Wyden is looking to save his ass as he is one of the fews Dems who held his seat in this years election. (no, we have not figured it out here in Oregon) Even a broken clock in right twice a day. We have had to endure campaign ads that describe a Ron Wyden that NO OREGONIANS have ever seen, opposing some democrat planks, actually caring about Oregonians etc. He actually got a lot more reasonable and smarter during the election cycle, gee. They guy has been in Washington FOREVER and is part of the problem, like all encumbants. He lives in NYC with his wife and kids, and NEVER gets back here to podunkville. Sorry Ron, you are one of the reasons we are out of work, broke, and will be the last state in the union to recover, whatever that means.

Submission + - Do Democrats prefer anal sex vs. beastiality?

The following study was conducted by David Croteau of Virginia Commonwealth University. (24) He targeted Washington bureau chiefs and Washington-based journalists who cover national politics and/or economic policy. The 141 journalists and bureau chiefs who responded were an excellent cross-section of the target group as a whole. When their positions on political issues were tallied up, this was the results: Q#22. On social issues, how would you characterize your political orientation? Left 30% Center 57% Right 9% Other 5% Q#23. On economic issues, how would you characterize your political orientation? Left 11% Center 64% Right 19% Other 5%

My son was put on time release Ritalin as soon as he reached school by his mother. He was moody, disruptive, etc. Of course, since I did not meet him til he was eight, his mother was an alcoholic, etc, etc, obviously there were other factors. The procedure was diagnose by teacher and see a doc and take some stupid concentration test, medicate. Mom says still not controllable, more medication. Repeat. I finally got him and he was on enough Concerta that a pill in the morning still had his pupils as big as saucers at 10 pm at nite. Weaned him off everything over six months, dealt with the bad behavior, and he was manageable. Medication until desired affect was just cruel, I wanted to knock the doc's teeth out. He was very bright, and very bored in school. But as someone said here earlier, our education bar is SO FREAKING LOW, only a moron is kept engaged. Two kindergardeners were on the playground watching a 747 overhead. One says "look at that, 246,000 pound payload and 54,000 gallon fuel capacity", the other "yeah, max thrust 45,000 lbs and an 1800 nautical mile range". Just then the bell rang and they looked at each other and one said, "guess it's back to stringing the damn beads!"

So you are saying, as a group, that climate scientists are less prone to biting the hand that feeds them? Please, I can take your argument and turn it 180 and make the same point showing oil guy are LESS political. There are billions being pumped into "research" that would dry up if there were no impending doom. Please quantify exactly what would be the affect on AGW if everyone in the USA died tomorrow. Chart the glaciers and ocean levels in say, 20 years. That would be the supreme sacrifice for us "earthers", preserve the earth at the cost of all the humans, and it will be a great place for your pet monkey.
